I might start by mentioning that I am in the process of moving.
In the interim, I am living with my brother and sister-in-law.
Consequently, my stuff is semi-strategically spread between my old house's basement,
my car, and this little downstairs room I occupy.
I would love to wear diferent jewelry than that I have been wearing for the past week,
but I don't know where my baggie full of necklaces nor my scattered array of earrings
have gone.
Needless to say, these things are frivilous.
It is snowing in Seattle, really snowing!
It has been freezing temperatures for the past week,
laying way for the incoming snow.
It has snowed numerous times, actually accumulating.
This just doesn't happen (normally) in Seattle.
Usually it snows, then the next day temperatures rise
and the inclement rain proceeds to eradicate any evidence
that it actually snowed.
So it was most amazing and unexpected when on Thursday morning,
I learned my office would be closed. Later on Thursday, the powers
that be also proclaimed the office would be closed on Friday.
I can't tell you what a breath of fresh air this is to my soul.
Some might call me lazy, because with this time off, it seemed the perfect
excuse to do nothing...to not even think.
Amazing it is, that I can actually lay in bed for hours, content, just letting
my brain download and think nonsense thoughts.
This is precisely what I have done. I have been gifted with a pre- holiday that could not have come at a better time.
My bones tell me, that I needed a break from my life.
The snow itself, has been an unexpected blessing.
I see now, that my lifestyle is not sustainable, some things have got to change
If I want to have the energy to do the important things in life.
The snow, which has caused life to halt, even if temporarily, has shown me
that I wait for things or I create pockets of time (vacation) where I really breathe in life.
The rest of the time, I am surviving, somewhat soulless, albeit, aspirational.
This is no way to live life now, with so much future ahead.
I for one, am glad that the snow brings Seattle to a halt, a reminder to just stop is
much appreciated. Thank you Seattle, for not being able to respond to the snow
very well, Merry Christmas!
